Woman charged over death of her husband

-

SARAH DOYLE (31) with an address at Ramsgate Village, Gorey, was charged last week in connection with the death of Philip Doyle (33) in the early hours of Sunday, January 26.

On Monday, January 27, she was charged under section 11 of the firearm and offensive weapons act, that she, while committing or appearing to be about to commit an offence, or in the course of a dispute or fight, produced in a manner likely unlawfully to intimidate another person any article capable of inflicting serious injury.

Sarah Doyle was arrested and detained until Monday evening, under Section four of the Criminal Justice Act, at Gorey Garda Station.

At 5.40 pm she received a charge from investigating gardaí to which she responded ‘I didn’t mean for him to die’, which was heard in court and taken as evidence.

Ms Doyle appeared before a special sitting of Gorey District Court just an hour later and the case was heard by Judge Gerard Furlong.

Family members sat in the court to hear to terms and conditions of bail, which was granted by the judge and agreed to by the defendant with no objection.

Sarah Doyle is due to appear before the same court in Gorey, county Wexford on April 15.

The conditions of bail agreed were that her passport would be surrendered within the next 24 hours, that she lodge €500 in cash and agree to sign herself over at Bray Garda Station between 9 am and 9 pm twice weekly.

She agreed to observe a curfew from 11 pm to 8 am and that during this time of bail, she will remain at an address in Bray, County Wicklow.

Judge Furlong told Sarah Doyle that the bail conditions were subject to good behaviour, and explained that this meant a member of An Garda Siochána could call to the address at any time and that she would have to present herself.

Before the judge, she said that she understood and made no further comment.

She then left the courtroom surrounded by her family.
