Hope Centre runs support groups and programmes
THE Hope Centre runs various support programmes and support groups each year.
One such programme is the Prostate Cancer Psychosocial Education Programme which was developed by the Irish Cancer Society for prostate cancer survivors.
The six session programme aims to enhance the physical and psychosocial wellbeing and quality of life for prostate cancer survivors by identifying and responding to supportive care needs, developing healthy coping strategies and managing lifestyle changes.
The programme provides opportunities for participants to share their experiences and concerns, increase their understanding of the prostate cancer experience and its consequences, explore their attitudes towards prostate cancer and develop their skills in coping with and surviving prostate cancer.
The programme was last delivered in Autumn 2019 at the Hope Cancer Support Centre. Attendees from the progamme in evaluations said they benefited greatly from attending.
The programme is facilitator-led by a Nurse and qualified Psychotherapist using an adult learning approach building on the knowledge skills and experience of the participants.
The next programme will run for 6 Wednesdays from 7-9 pm in the Hope Centre, 22 Weafer Street, Enniscorthy, beginning on Wednesday, February 26.
