Stage is set for start of Kilmuckrid­ge Drama Festival

IT’S that time of year again as the 62nd annual Kilmuckrid­ge Drama Festival gets under way from this Friday, February 21, and will run until Saturday, February 29, in Kilmuckrid­ge Memorial Hall.

Shows begin nightly from 8 p.m., with Brendan Murray as this year’s adjudicato­r.

John B Keane’s ‘The Year of the Hiker’ will be presented on Friday by Camross Drama Group, who are competing in the confined section.

The Sillan Players take to the stage on Saturday, performing ‘The Black Pig Dyke’ by Vincent Woods, also in the confined section.

The much-loved ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’, by Dale Wasserman, will be performed by Mullingar Theatre Lab on Sunday, as they contest the confined section.

Starting the second week on Monday, February 24, Kilrush Drama Group will perform their open section entry – ‘The Salvage Shop’ by Jim Nolan.

The Wayside Players will perform ‘The Cripple of Inishmaan’ by Martin McDonagh on Tuesday, February 25, in the confined section.

Wexford Drama Group will take to the stage on Wednesday, with ‘Closer’ by Patrick Marber in the open section.

Kilmuckrid­ge Drama Group will take to their home stage on Thursday, performing in the confined section with ‘Daughter from over the Water’ by MJ Molloy.

Bridge Drama Group will perform ‘Men Should Weep’ by Ena Lamont Stewart on Friday, February 29, in the open section, while Prosperous Dramatic Society will finish the festival on Saturday in the same section.

They will be performing ‘Few and Evil Days’ by Mark O’Rowe.
