Parade gets its grand marshall

-

GOREY’S JOSEPH DIXON has been announced as this year’s St Patrick’s Day parade grand marshall ahead of tonight’s launch party.

Last year, Joe was named as Cycle Against Suicide national volunteer of the year, and his latest honour this time came around after he was delighted to accept the nomination from his peers.

Since then, the congratulations have already been pouring in from across Gorey and further afield.

Gorey was the host of the charities annual Orange Tie Ball for 2019, and most recently Joe ran the successful Spashathon event at the Ashdown Park Hotel with his wife Catriona.

All are invited to the parade launch party, which takes place tonight (Tuesday, February 18) in Gorey’s Browne’s bar at 7.30 p.m.

Music will be provided by Aris, and all present will hear more about this year’s theme which is ‘Sights and Sounds of the decades’.

The parade itself will begin at 3 p.m. on March 17, with floats entering from the new link road from the Carnew/ Hollyfort road, as there will be no staging from the Enniscorthy road at the Monument.

Stewards are welcome to come forward, and applications for floats are now available from both the Market House on Main Street and the Gorey Civic Offices.

Any questions or requests can now be forwarded to goreyparadeltd@gmail.com or Gorey St Patrick’s Day Parade Facebook page.

The people of Gorey are also asked to get involved on social media by searching ‘Gorey St Patrick’s Day’ on Facebook and Instagram.
