Seasiders sink United to extend their advantage

Division 2

Curracloe United extended their advantage at the top of Division 2 to six points with a 2-0 win over Enniscorth­y United on Sunday.

Kerill Sutton and Stephen McGuire hit the back of the net for the high-flying seasiders.

Taghmon United leapfrogge­d Raheen into third place with a 2-1 away win over their rivals. Cathal Murphy and John Doyle scored for the visitors, with Daire Bolger replying.

Meanwhile, Crossabeg and Gorey Celtic shared the spoils after a 2-2 draw. Davie Fenlon grabbed both goals for the hosts, with Ger Carey and Jordan Davies netting for Celtic. Division 3

Ajax Athletic got back to the bread and butter of the league after their excellent run in the LFA Junior Shield, and they did so in style with 5-1 win over Bree United to extend their advantage to four points.

Seán ‘Beefy’ Farnan was in great form in front of goal, netting a hat-trick, while Liam Moore and Aaron Moorehouse added a goal apiece.

Second-placed St. Joseph’s suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Forth Celtic, with Alan Doyle and Keith Murphy scoring for the Murrintown side and Des Mythen netting for Joey’s. Division 3A

A storming first-half put leaders Fethard Rangers on the road to victory as they saw off Crossabeg 4-2 on Sunday.

The seasiders built up a 4-1 advantage by the interval, with Graham O’Grady, Jimmy Sutton and Jean Luc Tubritt (two) hitting the back of the net. James Carley and Joe Wilson got on the scoresheet for Crossabeg.

Shane Bergin, Robbie O’Connor and Alan Flood got the goals for promotion-hopefuls Wexford Bohs as they edged out Oylegate United 3-2, with Robert Doran and Lee Kehoe (penalty) replying, while Fastnet Rovers won 5-1 away to Courtown Hibs.

Rosbercon United had their shooting boots on against Bunclody, with Kevin Doyle netting a hat-trick, Dan Connor adding a double, and Barry Ryan, Paul Manning and Tommy Quinn adding a goal apiece in an 8-2 win. Paddy Kavanagh and Tommy Power hit the back of the net for Bunclody. Division 4

Jason Ellard was the match winner for Rosslare Rangers on Sunday, netting the only goal of the game as the leaders edged out Bridge Rovers.

Mick Stephens hit the back of the net for Kiltealy Celtic as they drew 1-1 away to St. Joseph’s, with Jamie Warren scoring for the hosts.

Meanwhile, Stephen Kennedy and Jimmy Lennon got the goals for Cloughbawn in their 2-0 away win over Corach Ramblers.

Division 4A

St. Leonards continue to lead the way in Division 4A after running out emphatic 6-1 winners away to Castledock­rell on Sunday. Matty Flynn helped himself to a hat-trick for the saints, while Tommy Byrne added a double and Evan Kiely also got in on the act.

Wexford Bohs are still very much the team to beat though, as they lie just three points off top spot with three games in hand.

On Sunday they fought back from a 1-0 half-time deficit to edge out fellow promotion-chasers Enniscorth­y United 2-1.

Joe Miller headed United in front, but goals from Nicky Hynes and Jordan Donovan earned the points for Bohs.

Jamie Myler and Dylan Whitty both bagged doubles for Campile United in their 4-2 win in Curracloe, with David Murphy and Rob McGuinness netting for the hosts.

The Ballagh United and Enniscorth­y Town drew 2-2, with Cathal Kenny and Anthony Roche scoring for the former and Jeff Buckley and D.J. Murphy replying.

Division 5

Camolin Celtic are three points clear at the top of Division 5 after overcoming Adamstown 5-1 on Sunday.

Cian Byrne (two), Dan Kennedy, Podge Redmond and James Casey got their goals, with Chris Mahon replying.

Second-placed All Blacks suffered a 3-2 defeat to Shelburne United, with Seán Moran, Harry Kehoe and Jack Fleming scoring for the winners, and Darren Naughton and Alex Clarke replying.

James Sheridan helped himself to five goals for Enniscorth­y United as they ran out 8-1 winners over Tombrack United. Adam Casey, Jimmy Molloy and Jack Kearney also got in on the act, with James Kavanagh scoring for Tombrack.

Two second-half goals earned Glynn Barntown a 2-1 away win over Ajax Athletic. Liam Murphy fired the hosts in front before the interval, but Conor Whelan levelled on the hour mark and Roger Doyle grabbed the winner in the 90th minute.

Kenny Jordan, Darragh Whelan, Dylan Redmond and Shane Kirwan got the goals for Wexford Celtic in their 4-2 win over Fastnet Rovers.
