CHURCH NOTICES

We invite you to participate in our parish online prayer by emailing richard.lawless@ymail.com or texting me on 087-6923280 any prayer intention that you may have in these days. These prayers and intentions will be remembered in our 10am daily online Mass on Craanford Monaseed Parish Facebook page. This online celebration of Mass is a real coming together of our prayer. It contains aspects of the entire Craanford Monaseed diaspora around the world united with those still at home. This prayer is our hope in action. We are stronger when we are together, and though apart in these days, we are with each other now in a new way. May Christ, the one who lived most for the other, support us in that task. Sincerely, Fr Richard.

Daily mass is being broadcast live from the parish Facebook page @ 10am every morning. Apart from parishioners logging on, we have had visitors from other parts of the county and country and abroad tuning in live. You are all very welcome among us always but never more so than during these difficult and trying times.

HOLY WEEK/EASTER SERVICES–The final week of Lent leading up to Easter is called Holy Week. It begins with Palm Sunday and I will have our online Mass at 10am including the blessing of palm crosses, which I will leave in the church for you to collect any time during the week. The week ends with Holy Saturday, the day before Easter Sunday. Holy Week includes Holy Thursday and Good Friday, which, together with Holy Saturday, are known as the Triduum.

During Holy Week, we Christians commemorate the Passion of Christ, Who died on Good Friday in reparation for the sins of mankind, and rose on Easter Sunday to give new life to all who believe. Thus, while Holy Week is solemn and sorrowful, it also anticipates the joy of Easter through the recognition of God’s goodness in sending His Son to die for our salvation.

Sadly, this year, as a result of the Corona Virus we will not be able to gather for the usual services. However, I will continue to celebrate Mass from Monday to Wednesday at 10am on Craanford Monaseed Parish Facebook page. To mark the Sacred Triduum I will celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper online on Thursday at 7pm. I will reflect on Good Friday on the Stations of the Cross at 3pm online and pray the Office of Readings on Holy Saturday at 7pm. Easter Day Mass will be celebrated online at 10am.

We will not have the opportunity of a Penance Service for Holy Week but, given that we have already been dispensed by Bishop Denis from the obligation to attend Sunday worship, we acknowledge that we are also dispensed from the obligation, this year, to observe our Easter Duty (to avail of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and to receive the Eucharist). We look forward to the time when we can take up these cherished routines once again.

PARISH OFFICE–Due to the restrictions imposed on Friday, 27th March it is necessary for us to close the Parish Office. However, Brian will continue to work from home and can be contacted Monday to Friday between the hours of 9.30am and 12.30am on 087-3633965.

NEWSLETTER–We will continue to publish our newsletter but online only. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to continue posting copies to Nursing Home residents for the coming period, but we will resume this as soon as things return to normal. The Newsletter will be posted on Facebook each week. Email copies will be forwarded as usual. Should you wish to receive it in this way please contact Brian. Also, should you have notices you wish to include please email them to craanfordlocalnews@ gmail.com before Thursday morning at 9am.

ONLINE MASS INTENTIONS–10.00am Sun 5th April: Patrick Finn and Jane and Martin Murphy, Ballygullen. Jim and Peter Doran, Monbay.

VISITS TO SICK AND HOUSEBOUND–Out of concern for the wellbeing of our Sick and Housebound I will not make my April visits to them with Holy Communion. I will keep the situation under review and normal activity will hopefully resume as soon as possible. In the meantime, stay safe. Fr Richard.

TROCAIRE BOXES (OFFERINGS)–Please keep your Trocaire Boxes for return at a later date. You may put your donation in any envelope and mark it “Trocaire” and return it to Craanford- Monaseed churches when our normal service resumes. If you can convert small coin to larger coin or notes this would help greatly in the counting of the collection. Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness and generosity.
