A STELLAR GESTURE FROM STAR AND HIS TEAM
WITH the demand for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across the county and country well documented at this stage, one Wexford businessman has come up trumps for local volunteers by providing a total of 1,000 face-masks, free of charge.
Sida Liu or ‘Star’ as he’s known to his friends and customers at Great Shape Hair, Body and Beauty on the Main Street, got in touch with local councillor Maura Bell in a bid to help with the ongoing Covid-19 efforts.
‘I’ve been working with Star on a couple of things over the past six months,’ Cllr Bell explained. ‘He got in touch with me then and said that he wanted to help and he had 1,000 face masks that he wanted to donate to the council. I got in touch with our communications officer David Minogue who in turn suggested the Civil Defence.’
As part of the County Council’s Covid-19 response team, the Civil Defence have been on call in recent weeks carrying out various tasks and transporting people to essential appointments etc. On behalf of his team, Peter O’Connor was delighted to receive the donation of masks and is now sharing them with the likes of the Order of Malta and MarineWatch.
Included in the box of masks that read: ‘Dear friends. I hope these masks can provide a little help and I wish you all the best, safe and sound. Kind Regards, Sida Liu, Lije Tang and Angie Dooley of Great Shape Hair, Body & Beauty’.
Not one for a fuss, Star asked that Cllr Bell hand over the donation, which was gratefully received by Sinead Furlong of Wexford Civil Defence. Cllr Bell also thanked the whole crew at Great Shape Hair, Body and Beauty and urged people to remember their generosity when all this is over.
