Ballycanew FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

Due to the current lockdown the pupils of Ballycanew NS who were due to make their First Holy Communion this month will have to wait till a later date to make their First Holy Communion.

PERVICALS DAYBREAK

Percival’s new opening hours are as follows. Monday to Friday 7 a.m. till 8 p.m.; Saturday 8 a.m. till 8 p.m.; Sunday 9 a.m. till 8 p.m. This may change in the coming weeks.

A delivery service or call and collect service is available for the elderly and at risk. Please ring 053 9427125 with your order. COMMUNITY FOOD STATION

As the weeks go on, the lockdowns continue, and people lose their income, there may be people out there who simply cannot afford the day to day necessitie­s. We have put food stuffs into the free library in the hall. Please pass the word around.

RÉALT NA MARA GAA

BRIDGE CLUB CLOSURE

Seán Óg’s Bridge Club have suspended their bridge playing at the Upton Court Hotel for the foreseeabl­e future. The committee will update all members by text and they thank everyone for their understand­ing.

ClonegalKi­ldavin EMILY’S ‘MARATHON IN MAY’

Inspired by the Kildavin-Clonegal Juvenile GAA Club’s initiative a ‘Marathon in May’ Emily is hoping to complete her 42km in her carrier with Dad Daithi and raise some much needed money for the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation.

Emily is three years old and has been supported by the Jack and Jill Foundation since she was born. Her family would love to help give something back. Emily is currently supported by fabulous nurses who she has not seen since early March as they are frontline hero’s and she is missing them terribly.

COMMUNITY GROUP – VOLUNTEERS

A 24-hour phone line will be answered by volunteers from the parish of Clonegal and Kildavin. Don’t be alone. Done be isolated. If there is something you need, medication pick up, groceries or just need someone to talk too, we are hear for you. All contact will be kept confidenti­al. All of our volunteers will follow the HSE guidelines to keep everybody safe. Please phone 087 7181850, please share this number with your neighbours who may be living on their own.

Clonegal/Kildavin Veteran Players next project is a book of historical photos connected to the community, people and places. Now that the world is quite waiting for the end of this crisis, we are asking you to look up your old photograph­s, so we can consider publishing them. It is also an opportunit­y to remind ourselves of the generation­s who endured much more than is being asked of us. TIDY TOWNS

In an ongoing effort to keep our village looking nice, Tidy Towns volunteers are asking for support from the community to help us along. This can be done by keeping the area around your homes litter free, or picking up rubbish when out walking whilst adhering to the the 5km rule at all times. Any offers of help are most welcome.

Marshalsto­wn- Castledock­rell CHURCH SERVICES

Marshalsto­wn Church now has a webcam. Mass on Sunday mornings will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Oylegate-Glenbrien GAA club are happy to support Pieta House on Friday/Saturday May 22/23, by taking part in their national 24hour marathon while following all HSE Covid 19 guidelines.

CHURCH NOTICE

Due to the current restrictio­ns on gatherings, all public Masses are suspended. Both Churches are open every day for private individual visits.

The parish office remains closed for the moment.

As parishione­rs cannot attend Masses at present, parish envelope donations in support of the church funds can be returned when public Masses resume. You can also support your local church fund through a new initiative by visiting ferns.ie. When you go to the website, simply click on DONATE and follow the instructio­ns allow you to donate to Oylegate or Glenbrien Church. Thank you for your continued support.
