Colaiste Bhride announced its award winners

Coláiste Bhríde, Carnew decided to honour the achievemen­ts of its students during this very different school year.

While the presentati­on of trophies and awards could not take place, it is hoped this will be possible at a future date. Instead, award winners were announced through the school’s app.

The Transition Year awards will be presented at another time when it is safe to do this. The Leaving Certificat­e Graduation and Presentati­on Evening is also being planned.

Principal Linda Dunne said: ‘Covid-19 has been challengin­g for everyone but the way our school community has embraced this challenge has been amazing.’

Principal Dunne also thanked everyone for their commitment and stressed the importance of continuing to follow the publich health guidelines so that everyone will be safe and will be ready to return to school when the time comes.

The award winners in first year were as follows: Student of the Year Rebecca Byrne; Academic Excellence – Jessica Murphy, Billy Hurney, Aine McMahon, Nathan Finucane, Rosealice Byrne, Seren Byrne, Fionn Murphy, Fionan Darcy and Aiobhe McGuigan. Award winners in second year were as follows: Student of the Year – Yasmin Dagge; Academic Excellence Certs – Eoghan Murphy, Niamh Edwards, Shauna Donoghue, Rebecca McCarthy, Elise Davidson, Laci-Jane Shannon, Eimear Murphy and Nicola Kmak.

For third year, the awards were presented as follows: Student of the Year – Juliette Ní Chonaill; Academic Excellence – Livia McDonagh, Abby

Keating, Robyn Hamilton, Richard Greene, Tara McDonald, Shane Roe, and Annaleigh O’Neill.

The fifth year awards are as follows: Student of the year - Bree Greene; Academic Excellence - Aidan Kavanagh, Youna McGrath, Conor Byrne, James McGing, Patrick Kavanagh, Eimear Furlong, Fiona Doyle, Cian O’Neill, amd Lorna Matthews.

The Best Results Junior Certificat­e 2019 awards wents to Isabella Ní Chonaill and James Doyle. Isabella Ní Chonaill won the Dymphna Byrne Memorial Cup while the Olivia Hickey Art Award went to second year student Cora O’Donnell.
