Online seminar examines childhood anxiety issues
THE pandemic has taken its toll on everyone, tested us in ways we’ve never been tested before. But while most of us can express the fears and worries we have surrounding the coronavirus, for younger members of the household it can be a little more difficult.
Helping parents to help their children during these unprecedented times is Therapist and Author, Carina McEvoy.
On Thursday, June 25 at 8 p.m., Carina will host a a online seminar entitled ‘Managing Anxiety in Children & Adolescents’. It will stream for free on the Wexford Library YouTube channel and all Wexford Library Facebook pages.
Part of the Library’s ‘Parenting Today’ series, this seminar follows on from previous talks on ADHD and Sleep Solutions for Babies, both of which are available to view on its Youtube page.
Carina is the author of ‘Sometimes I worry…how about you?’ and ‘Sometimes my child worries, what do I do?
She has worked previously as a secondary school teacher and is qualified in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. Carina battled social phobia, OCD, selfharm, depression and severe anxiety in her teenage years and early adulthood.
She works very successfully with parents and schools all over
Wexford to advise and support them in helping their children to overcome anxiety issues.
This talk is scheduled to arrive online on all Wexford County Council Public Library Service Facebook pages and Wexford Libraries YouTube channel on Thursday, June 25 at 8 p.m. People are invited to submit their questions in advance of the talk. Complete privacy is assured.
Questions must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 19 and Carina will address as many as possible in a presentation that will tell you:
Exactly what anxiety is and the science behind it. How your child experiences anxiety in their body and displays it in their language and behaviour.
How you can limit the hyper-anxiety currently being experienced today. How to talk to your child about anxiety
How to carry out a collection of therapeutic techniques to relieve your child’s anxiety.
