Manwas ‘weak with the hunger’

-

A 29-YEAR-OLD MAN who left a Wexford café without paying his €12 bill told gardaí afterwards he had been weak with hunger when he committed the offence.

Bill Moorehouse, 14 Ashwood Grove, Gorey, ordered the food at Joanne’s Bakery in the town on February 27 last year.

Dealing with the matter at the District Court in Wexford, Judge Brian O’Shea said Moorehouse was less likely to go to jail if he stumped up a sum of €100 by way of compensation.

The court allowed the accused, described as separated from his wife and children, until September to come up with the money.
