Chamber President Sean Reidy announces his resignation

- By MARIA PEPPER

The President of County Wexford Chamber Sean Reidy has announced his resignation from the position after nine months, citing personal reasons for the decision.

Mr. Reidy confirmed that he has stepped down from his voluntary role as Director and President of the organisation which represents business interests in Wexford, New Ross and Enniscorthy.

‘It has been a great privilege to serve in that capacity for the past nine months’, he said, wishing County Wxford Chamber and all its members ‘the very best in these difficult times’

Mr. Reidy added that he is looking forward to continuing to contribute to the cultural and economic life of New Ross and County Wexford whenever he can in the future.

It is understood that two other board members Adrian Twomey and Cllr. Diarmuid Devereux have also stepped down from their positions in the Chamber recently.

County Chamber CEO Fiona Lewis said members give up their time on a voluntary basis to serve on the Board.

‘The past few months have been particularly demanding upon members, balancing County Chamber business, looking after their families and loved ones and guiding their businesses through this difficult Covid-19 crisis.’

‘Resignations by directors are personal decisions, to be respected.’

‘On behalf of members, we would like to thank them for their great service and wish them well in the future’.

Ms. Lewis added that County Wexford Chamber continues to work hard on behalf of its members, and has already commenced engagement with the new Government to ensure that the findings of the Reviving Wexford report are considered. ‘Wexford is not represented at Cabinet, so lobbying on behalf of our members specifically in relation to Covid-19 and Brexit will continue as a key focus’, she said.
