Enniscorthy travel agent appointed to board of ITAA
ENNISCORTHY based travel agent, Suzanne O’Leary, has been appointed as a Board member of the Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA).
Ms O’Leary, from O’Leary Travel, is one of nine new appointments announced by the ITAA, including the appointment of Michael Doorley to the position of Board President.
The appointments were confirmed at the ITAA’s Annual General Meeting which took place via video conference call last week.
Ms O’Leary is very well known and respected in County Wexford and also within the tourism sector nationwide.
Mr Doorley, the Managing Director of Shandon Travel, heads a company that is a long-standing member of the ITAA.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the tourism industry faces serious challenges ahead but those attending the AGM were told that within the challenges there are also positive opportunities to re-examine the role of the ITAA and its significance to members.
The AGM itself created its own bit of history this year as it was the first time ever that it took place by video conference; it’s usually held as part of the Irish Travel Trade Show.
However, this year the trade show will take place in the autumn having been postponed because of the pandemic.
Also, for the first time ever there will be two trade shows this year - one in the Imperial Hotel, Cork, on September 30, and he second in the Hotel Riu Plaza, the Gresham, Dublin, on October 1.
