BEREAVEMENT

The sympathy of the community is extended to the family, relatives and friends of the late Margaret Roche (née Murphy), Oulart, who passed to her eternal reward on Monday, June 22.

Margaret was the beloved wife of the late John and loving mother of Imelda, James, Declan and David. She will be sadly missed by her loving family, her sisters Kathleen, Nellie, Mary and Josie, son-in-law Robert, daughters-inlaw Pauline and Angela, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbours and friends.

Margaret was a kind and gentle lady who played a full part in the life of the local community and she was always supportive of local causes.

In keeping with Government Guidelines on public gatherings the funeral Mass was confined to family but the attendance in the church grounds, in the village and at the cemetery bore testimony to the high regard in which she was held.

Margaret was a long-standing member of Oulart ICA whose members formed a Guard of Honour in the cemetery as she was brought to her final resting place, last Tuesday. She will be sadly missed by everyone whose life she touched. Solas na bhFlaitheas dá hanam dílis.

Earlier on the day of Margaret’s burial her sister-in-law, Eleanor Cullinane (née Roche), Esmonde St., Gorey was laid to rest in St Michael’s Cemetery. Condolences to her daughter Ann and grand-children.

PUBLIC CELEBRATION OF MASS

On the weekend of July 4 and 5, we will have the opportunity to gather again for the celebration of Holy Mass in our parish churches, in Oulart and the Ballagh, at the same times as pre-lockdown.

However, it is important to know that due to current Public Health advice regarding physical distancing, the maximum number of people who can be accommodated for any liturgy will be much reduced. Therefore, with many seats closed off, it will only be possible to allow one person to sit at the end of each free row while permitting those from the same household to sit together.

VULNERABLE PEOPLE – It is very important that people who are vulnerable or unwell should stay at home and, if possible, participate, as now, via webcam, social media, television or radio. The same applies to those who have been in recent contact with someone who has the virus, in accordance with public health advice.

ON RETURN TO PUBLIC MASS – Please note the following: (1) On entry to church please adhere to physical distance (2) Use hand sanitizer in porch on entry and exit. (3) Stewards will be on hand to direct people to seating. (4) The church must be filled from the top only. (5) Please remain seated at all times during Mass. (5) Holy Communion will be distributed after Mass. (7) Stewards will direct people to exit. (8) Please observe the physical distance guidance outside the church.

GREAT JOY – The return to public worship, even gradually, will be a source of great joy and hope to our parish communities. Public Health considerations will, however, require the above adjustments to the way we celebrate our liturgies. Every effort will be made to support active participation and prayerful and joyful celebration. Those, who are able to attend look forward to celebrating together. Be assured that the sick, vulnerable and housebound will always be remembered in the prayers of the community.

THE BALLAGH CHURCH

A meeting will be held in The Ballagh Church on Wednesday 1st July, at 8.30pm to organise the implementation and management of the essential safety procedures that are needed for the protection of the congregation.

Thank You – The community of The Ballagh would like to express their deep gratitude to BHA Construction and to acknowledge their substantial sponsorship of the sanitising agents and all related equipment for the Church of St. John The Baptist. Go raibh mile maith agaibh.
