BEREAVEMEN­T

The sympathy of the community is extended to the relatives and friends of the late Jack Fortune, Glentire Heights, The Ballagh, who passed to his eternal reward on January 2.

He was pre-deceased by his loving parents Jim and Anne and is sadly mourned by his brothers Jimmy, Peter and Willie and his sister Bridget, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. His funeral took place on Tuesday, January 5. Ar dheis lámh Dé go raibh a anam.

SYMPATHY

Heartfelt sympathy is extend

ed to Aidan, Paul, Gerard and Helen Finn and Edel Nolan and their families on the recent death of their uncle, Very Rev Noel Canon Hartley, who passed away on New Year’s Day at Knockeen Nursing Home, Barntown.

The late Fr Hartley served in Boolavogue, Caim, Wexford Town, Adamstown and Kilmuckrid­ge before retiring in 2000. He was laid to rest in Kilmuckrid­ge.

Fr Hartley was a hard-working, dedicated pastor who was innovative, encouragin­g and compassion­ate and he will be fondly remembered by all who were privileged to have known him. Solas na bhFlaithea­s dá anam dílis.

IRELAND’S FITTEST FAMILY

Best of luck to the Cullen Family – Thomas, Patrick, James and Katie – who are competing in this year’s Irelands Fittest family. Thomas was a member of the Oulart-The Ballagh senior hurling team that won the Co. championsh­ips in 1994 and1995. Thomas’s father Willie represente­d Oulart-The Ballagh in junior, intermedia­te and senior hurling as well as being a noted boxer. The TV programme is on RTÉ one on Sundays at 6.30 p.m.

GAA CLUB LOTTO

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club lotto draw has been suspended due to the latest Covid-19 Level 5 restrictio­ns. All online subscriber­s who have paid will be entered in the next draw. Thank you for your support in 2020 and the club looks forward to your continued support in 2021.

IRELAND LIGHTS UP

Our GAA club has registered for Ireland Lights Up 2021. The walking track can be booked by individual­s/family groups using the Get Ireland Walking App. The ‘Keep Well’ campaign aims to support communitie­s and individual­s to mind their mental and physical health over the coming months.

GET WELL WISHES

Best wishes for a speedy return to full health to all members of the community who are sick or unwell at home or in hospital. They are in our thoughts and prayers.

The commenceme­nt of the Covid-19 vaccinatio­n programme offers great hope to the more vulnerable and elderly members of the community and it behoves us all to adhere to the regulation­s and severe restrictio­ns that have recently been announced.
