“Firstly, remember when it comes to Zoom, you only need to worry about the front. If you’re stuck for time, simply section off the first two inches of hair from your forehead and sides, shampoo, blast dry… and you’re done!

Much has been said about the dreaded white line, and how to mask grey roots with those temporary spray colours, but they work. The trick is to become familiar with applying the product, so take some time before hopping in the shower and really get to grips with the technique. Separate your parting and hold the can six inches away, then spray, but keep moving the can across the line, up and down, so you get used to the flow of product and the intensity of colour. When it comes to your forehead, brush all hair back and use a cotton pad to shield skin. Spray, and keep moving the cotton pad along with your progress. Be sure to cover hair at least half an inch on each side of the parting area treated, then flick the hair aside and do the next line of grey. Do your whole parting – you’ll feel better that way, and if meeting friends for a walk, do your whole crown.

TikTok, Instagram and YouTube are full of great, speedy hair tips and tutorials, so spend some time flicking through to find something you can try, and always practise before you’ll need to work the look for real. Finally, do yourself a favour and buy a full set of clips, neutral-shade hair bobbins, a comb and product, so you have all the tools necessary to ace the home styling game.”
