County Kildare boasts a rich tapestry of history and culture from equine excel‐ lence to literacy legends.

It is the spiritual home of St Brigid, the birthplace of the global brand Guinness and its founder Arthur Guinness, and the home of the great explorer Ernest Shackleton.

The county has a long association with Ireland’s Defence Force (and the British Army before that) at The Curragh and is known globally as the "thoroughbred county" given its vibrant equestrian sec‐ tor. Kildare County Council is working alongside a diverse group of stakehold‐ ers, including businesses, community organizations, and individuals passionate about promoting Kildare.

The County Kildare Chamber continues to play an integral role in engaging Kil‐ dare’s diaspora with several internation‐ al visits every year working with busi‐ nesses already investing in Kildare, pro‐ moting Kildare-based businesses inter‐ nationally, or assisting businesses look‐ ing to set up a base in County Kildare. In 2024, Kildare Chamber will visit Boston, Washington, Florida, Brussels, and more. INTO Kildare is the offi cial tourism site of the County promoting Kildare’s glori‐ ous blend of history and heritage, and the bespoke off erings of the county’s towns and villages. Kildare off ers a patchwork of visitor experiences such as quaint market towns, traditional pubs, and beautiful green spaces and water‐ ways to be explored on foot or by bike. Kildare is one of the most exciting places to visit in Ireland where every‐ body and anybody is very warmly wel‐ comed.

Sonya Kavanagh, Chief Executive of Kil‐ dare County Council comments, “The Irish diaspora maintains a web of inter‐ connectedness across the globe that has supported us in nurturing Irish culture in many far- ung places.

"Global Ireland’s Diaspora Strategy 2020-2025 recognizes that our diaspo‐ ra is comprised of many with varying degrees of connection to Ireland, some‐ thing that is very evident in Kildare’s global connections. The Kildare Diaspora Engagement Strategy provides a strate‐ gic plan for engaging with those con‐ nected to County Kildare on a national and international level."
