ROSEMARY’S FEEL-FABULOUS PLAN
GROOMING
I usually wake up at 6.15am. I try to go to bed by 10pm in order to have seven to eight hours of sleep – I need at least seven hours. I put in my curlers and have a bath. I wash my hair twice a week. Then I put on my face creams. I layer four, waiting ten minutes between each one: Genifique Serum; Rénergie and Absolue, all by Lancôme, and finally Dior’s Hydra Life Sorbet Creme moisturiser. In between, I moisturise my whole body with Aveeno and apply a foot cream. While I’m smoothing my hair with straighteners, I do two minutes with my Facial-Flex gadget. Then I do my make-up, making sure I put concealer under my eyes and all the way up to my eyebrows.
DIET
BREAKFAST A bowl of granola with a couple of teaspoons of brown sugar for extra crunch, or porridge with honey. Plus a small glass of orange juice to wash down my supplements (about six in all, including a multivitamin and a probiotic). LUNCH Usually a slice of wholegrain toast with a dry-fried egg on top and a sprinkling of cheese. I am a ‘feaster’, someone who once they start eating finds it difficult to stop – I don’t eat snacks between meals, other than perhaps half a banana. SUPPER Spaghetti bolognese or chicken curry cooked the low-fat way and using meat with only five per cent fat. I eat basmati rice and I’m a big fan of carbs. I don’t eat a lot of fruit but I do eat plenty of veg: carrots, broccoli, cabbage, sprouts, parsnips, sweet potatoes and mangetout. I won’t have pudding but four days of the week (not the weekend) I drink half a bottle of chardonnay. I don’t mind eating out – I wouldn’t think twice about going to an Indian restaurant, for example – but I wouldn’t choose to eat out for a treat. Even now, I’m conscious that people always look at what I eat. I tell myself that if I’m caught eating apple strudel with cream that wouldn’t look good.
EXERCISE
I teach two fitness classes on Mondays, and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays I go ice skating when possible. On Fridays I have a personal training session at a special gym called Bridge 4, which is run by physiotherapists. At the weekends I walk the dogs. I don’t weigh myself – I keep track of my weight by the fit of my clothes – apart from when I’m on holiday, when I check myself every day in order to monitor the impact of all the hotel food.
