UP AT DAYBREAK

-

I have two routines – one when Luna and Isla are staying, and one when it’s just Frank and me. They are similar, but everything is at triple speed when the girls are with us. ● 7AM I get up and wash my face with Clé de Peau Beauté cleanser. It’s a bit pricey, but it doesn’t give me spots and I can be terribly lazy about removing make-up after a late night – I have been known to go to bed with a towel over my pillow and leave everything until the morning. I follow this with Smashbox tinted moisturiser and Chanel black mascara. ● 7.30AM I wake up the girls, make breakfast and turn on Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain. If it’s a school day it’s toast and cereal; if it’s a non-school day I might make an Ulster fry-up for Frank: soda bread, sausages, beans, tomatoes, eggs and bacon. I might have a boiled egg, sausages and toast. ● 8AM It’s either the school run or possibly an exercise class. I went to one recently where we exercised while bouncing on a mini trampoline. I’m fit but not super-fit. I will always have muscly arms because in 2010 I water-skied across the English Channel. I trained so hard for the challenge that I put on a stone in muscle across my upper body and arms, and I still have it. After the school run I walk Minnie on Wimbledon Common. I walk every day and that, for me, is a joy. ● 9.30AM If I’m not doing TV, I return home and chat with Frank about the day ahead. I’ll often spend the morning making calls, sending emails or talking to TV producers. If I’m at home I don’t dress up, but I do if I’m going out. I love doing hair and make-up: I do the girls’, my friends’ and my own. And I did my friend Elaine’s make-up for her wedding. I love the way hair and make-up can transform someone, and I’m a complete product junkie.
