Well, there’s no getting away from it now. Christmas is just around the corner, and while many will say it’s their favourite time of year, sometimes, festive fever can be just a bit overwhelming. All those lists, queues, stress and debt in the quest to create the perfect Christmas - it’s enough to make you want to hibernate. While we might not be able to do your Christmas shopping for you, if you’re looking for some inspiration on what to wear to festive parties and gatherings, check out our stunning shoot on page 10. At first glance, it looks like an edit of high-end designer partywear - but in fact all pieces come from Penneys, and the most expensive item? A brocade jacket, for the princely sum of €30. It goes to show that you can look the part without spending a fortune, and let’s face it, we can all do with a little extra cash in our pockets at this time of year. If you’re fretting over how to create a magical Christmas feast, turn to page 17 for the second part of Jamie Oliver’s Cracking Christmas. While I’m comfortable enough cooking turkey, I’d love to try something a little different, so that Jerk Ham sounds delicious — not the Fish Curry though, as I’m a bit of a traditionalist (and allergic to seafood!) I love the idea of Turkey Fajitas on St Stephen’s Day — a delicious way to use up leftovers and it sure beats a soggy turkey sandwich. Also getting in the festive spirit is world-fêted soprano Celine Byrne, who is on home ground for the run-up to Christmas. On page 38, she explains why she has no time (or inclination) to be a diva, and how being a mum - and a Kildare woman keeps her grounded. Celine, we like your style...
