I’ve been a huge fan of Xposé presenter Cassie Stokes since the moment I met her a few years ago at a press event. We hit it off immediately. I loved her wit, her self-confidence, her style and, above all, just how nice she was. We’ve met many times since then – most memorably on a yacht in Monte Carlo! – and each time I’ve grown to like her even more. She has a strong work ethic in a manner that doesn’t impact negatively on those around her – there’s no diva antics here. In our interview with her on page 20, she tells us she doesn’t see herself as a gay icon but I beg to differ. Making an impact on someone doesn’t have to be about making grand gestures and public pronouncements, sometimes it can be as simple as being comfortable in your own skin and not worrying what other people think. In that way, I’m sure Cassie has had a huge influence on many young people. Another thing that has endeared her to me is her love of food - there is nothing this woman doesn’t know about pizza! We’ve bonded on many occasions over a tasty meal, and both agree that the biggest benefit of going to the gym is that it allows you to eat a little more. To that end, she will be a regular contributor to our new Food & Drink News page, so keep an eye out for her stories and recipes. On page 38, we meet Hannah Richell, whose husband died suddenly, leaving her with two young children. She has tried ever since to keep his memory alive, trying to retake control of her own life while not letting go of the past they shared. It’s a sad but ultimately heart-warming read. Enjoy the issue!
