Irish Daily Mail - YOU

IN THIS ISSUE

- Linda Maher

I’ve met social media star James Patrice at many events in the past few years and he’s always a ray of sunshine. Whether he’s hosting or just attending, you’re always guaranteed a laugh in his company. Through him, I’ve also met his lovely mother Veronica once or twice – or ‘Fron’ as she’s known to her fans, of which she has many through her own social media profile. We meet the duo on page 32 and even from reading the interview you’ll grasp what a wonderful relationship they have. They complement each other so well, constantly engaging in good-natured banter and encouragement. During the chat, James calls several of his roles his ‘dream job’ but I think working with Fron must be the dreamiest of all. I can’t tell you how much I’d love to have my mam on my team in work – she’s the most organised person I know! It’s funny but when it comes to organisational skills, I am the polar opposite of her. She needs to know dates, times and places weeks in advance, while I’m happy to do things at a moment’s notice. In true journalistic style, my deadline has to be practically pushing on my nose before I’ll acknowledge it. So it’s with envy that I look at the working relationship between James and Fron. As they’re still living together, it can’t always be easy to get along all the time, but they seem to manage it just fine. And I for one would love to see more of Fron on the telly – she’s a real tonic.

On page 38, we meet comedian Cariad Lloyd who has found humour in the most unlikely of places – grief. In her podcast, Griefcast, she explores death and bereavement with other comics and found it really helped her deal with her own father’s death. It’s not the right coping mechanism for everyone, but many find solace in laughter and this is a fabulous way to explore if it works for you.
