OPEN YOUR MIND TO OTHER CHOICES

-

There’s a fascinating feature on page 18 of today’s issue about tarot cards and how they’ve become a problem-solver for many people – stop rolling your eyes down the back please! I won’t say I’m a believer that a deck of cards can change your life but as long as you’re not basing monumental decisions on the luck of the draw then I don’t see what harm they’re doing. In the same way as I wouldn’t expect anyone to apply their horoscope on page 44 literally to their lives, I would expect anyone using tarot cards to be aware of their limits and use them only as a guide to open your mind up to other possibilities. As you’ll read in the feature, the cards don’t carry specific directions or decisions, they simply give suggestions to help you realise the many options that are open to you when it comes to your future. My brother’s sister-in-law Anne has always been a huge believer in the spiritual world and ‘reads’ angels. Again, it’s not something I subscribe to, but she has surprised me on several occasions with information about myself, my family or my friends that I didn’t even know. She’s also one of the most positive, happy and genuine people I’ve ever met so I see no harm in her imparting what she sees to those around her when it comes from a place of goodness. She only ever has people’s wellbeing at heart. The danger with such things comes when people take them seriously and literally, but any good practitioner would never give such directions anyway. So by all means use them as a way to open your mind up to alternative choices, but never base a life-changing decision on anything other than hard facts.

On page 34 you’ll read the uplifting story of Katie Piper and her mother Diane. Katie, you’ll remember, is the model whose ex-boyfriend arranged for an associate to throw acid over her, leaving her facing a lifetime of medical care. She went on, however, to become such a positive force and has become such an inspirational person. She tells of how her mother nursed her back to health, even giving up her job to take care of her, only to fall ill herself in recent years, with the roles now reversed. It truly is a story of unconditional love between a parent and child.

Enjoy the issue.
