A ROW

-

erupted on social media yesterday between people who have boycotted water charges and those who have paid.

One man took to Facebook to say: ‘For the first time ever, I agree with Enda Kenny. If you were stupid enough to pay in the first place, then you should keep paying.’

Another woman said: ‘Do us all a favour and get off your high horse, the government has robbed us and we want our money back.’

There are hundreds of other examples of people bickering.

The dispute began after Simon Coveney’s appearance on RTÉ’s Prime Time on Tuesday.

Broadcaster George Hook joined the row on Twitter, writing: ‘It will be an outrage if charges are scrapped and families who have paid do not get a refund.’ He later clashed with fellow Newstalk host Ivan Yates about the charge.
