Are tights making your legs dry?
IF YOU’VE been wearing tights all winter, you may have noticed the skin on your legs is drier and more prone to flakiness.
‘Tights produce a combination of heat, friction and sheering, which disrupt the surface skin cells,’ says Dr Mervyn Patterson, a cosmetic dermatologist.
‘These act as our skin’s roof, so when the cells are damaged, moisture escapes.’
Dry skin-brushing helps by increasing circulation to eliminate dead cells — try Giving It The Brush Off (€20, templespa.com). You can also exfoliate with Nuxe Melting Body Scrub (€20.50, boots.ie) and moisturise with Atlas Mountain Rose Body Butter (right, €21.95, thebodyshop.co.uk).
