What fans of the top 10 teams are thinking...

-

LEICESTER

Matt Davis, vice-chair of Foxes Supporters Trust

Verdict on your season: In a nutshell — brilliant. Far exceeding our expectations. We hoped for mid-table and I felt the same trepidation as Gary Lineker when Claudio Ranieri was appointed. But it has been an inspired choice. If not you, who do you want to

win it? Can I say Bournemouth? I love the way they play and used to watch them in the lower leagues. If I have to be realistic then Spurs, because they have typically been unfancied like us.

Worst case scenario: Probably dropping out of the Champions League places, because we have come so far and there are so few games left.

TOTTENHAM

Jon Welch, season ticket holder

Verdict on your season: It’s been great so far. It’s a young team and they’ve put in an amazing effort. Hopefully, this is just the start.

If not you, who else? Leicester. It would be incredible and gives hope to clubs without the financial muscle of the usual suspects.

Worst case scenario: Arsenal to win and Spurs miss out on top four.

ARSENAL

Sam Shethran, fan

Verdict on your season: Arsene Wenger has not supplemented the team with other solid players and relies on injury-prone players or those who are simply not consistent enough. But I genuinely think we have it in us to still win the title.

If not you, who else? Leicester. It certainly can’t be Spurs but it would be nice to see one of the surprise sides win it as opposed to one who usually does.

Worst case scenario: Spurs winning it. They’ve never come above Arsenal in my adult life and they have an annoyingly likeable, young and mainly English team.

MAN CITY

Matt Greenwood, season ticket holder

Verdict on your season: Disappointing, despite the League Cup win. Key players have underperformed, though we retain faint hopes in the league and Champions League.

If not you, who else? Leicester or Tottenham deserve it — they are both getting the maximum out of their players.

Worst case scenario: United pipping us for a top four place. I thought we had left them behind.

MAN UTD

Serge Fagelman, Old Trafford regular

Verdict on your season: It’s been particularly disappointing in terms of the results and football we’ve seen. Louis van Gaal had seemingly all but given up over the Christmas period but the emergence of youth has breathed excitement back into the place. LVG should be commended for that.

If not you, who else? Leicester, as they have been very solid throughout the whole campaign with a squad costing a fraction of the elite teams.

Worst case scenario: City winning it. Here’s hoping they ‘do an Arsenal’ and choke in the last 10 games!

WEST HAM

Tim from Frinton, fan

Verdict on your season: West Ham are now a feared team and if Dimitri Payet had been available all year who knows where we could have finished. We should come fifth, but can dream of even higher.

If not you, who else? Leicester. They are fit, strong, have no distractions and a manager who has the players onside and is tactically astute.

Worst case scenario: Spurs win the league and Manchester United stay in front of West Ham.

STOKE

Angela Smith, chair of Stoke Supporters Council

Verdict on your season: It has been stop-start. But we usually have a good end to the season under Mark Hughes so we are hoping to snatch a Europa League place.

If not you, who else? Leicester, because they have Robert Huth and they have given hope to many mid-table football clubs. I genuinely hope they go on and win it.

Worst case scenario: I think we will finish eighth or ninth, but I am hopeful we can finish seventh.

LIVERPOOL

Chris McLaughlin, lifelong Liverpool fan

Verdict on your season: Mediocre, in a word. I am, however, filled with renewed hope and a belief that we have the right man in charge.

If not you, who else? Leicester, because they consistently defied expectations. Arsenal fans would be insufferable and I don’t fancy Tottenham winning it before us.

Worst case scenario: A meek exit from the Europa League and finishing below a frankly terrible Man United team in the league. Also, our owners not backing Jurgen Klopp with all the resources he needs between now and August.

SOUTHAMPTON

Steve Grant, owner of website SaintsWeb

Verdict on your season: We’ve not got going this season, but we’re still in contention for another tilt at Europe. At least nobody has stood out to attract big-money moves that would disrupt us again.

If not you, who else? Leicester. It would show other ‘lesser’ clubs that they don’t need to spend hundreds of millions to compete.

Worst case scenario: Mid-table obscurity. Having clawed our way back into the race for the European places, it would be a pretty big blow to then toss it all away.

CHELSEA

Charlie Skillen, season ticket-holder

Verdict on your season: Awful, poisonous and depressing, for the most part. But we’ve improved under Guus Hiddink. Sneaking a European spot would be brilliant.

If not you, who else? Leicester. Their story has been life-affirming for anyone who loves the game.

Worst case scenario: The title ending up on either side of north London. Tottenham messing it all up on May 2 by failing to get a first win at Stamford Bridge in more than 26 years would be perfect.
