Not worth a Bean

-

ROWAN Atkinson, right, is cashing in on the popularity of his Mr Bean character in Asia by making a film which will only be released in Chinese cinemas. The mute Bean – or ‘Mr Foolish Bean’, as he’s known in the East – will be seen, though not heard, in Top Funny Comedian. Now, maybe Bean has been lost in translation (though to be honest, I’ve never found the British version particularly amusing either) – but does everything about that sound like the least funny 90 minutes in movie history?

NEWS that comedy duo Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders turned down a €2.8million offer to host The Great British Bake-Off has added to concerns that the show will struggle in its new Channel 4 berth. ‘A lot of money was offered,’ confirmed a source close to the duo, ‘but Channel 4 have bought a turkey.’ Not so much Bake-off as Roast-off, then.

FORMER Spice Girl Mel B has filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, Stephen Belafonte. The marriage has clearly deteriorated since Mel posted a picture of the couple kissing on Instagram with this loving message: ‘We have been through everything that would normally tear couples apart and we have come out on the other side stronger, you loved me before I even new (sic) how to really love myself, you are my world honey.’ Still, given that she only posted that message last month, I’d imagine this is yet another example of the erstwhile Scary Spice’s famously volatile personality.
