Joan Collins takes a swipe at Gwyneth’s ‘fad diets’

-

THE ‘clean eating’ trend has been subject to much debate and often backlash – with some stating there are ‘many toxic layers to the wellness phenomenon’. And Joan Collins, left, has joined the legion of critics of the trend, which has long been at the forefront of Gwyneth Paltrow’s public image. The Dynasty star said 44-year-old Gwyneth’s diets were nothing but a fad. Speaking on London station LBC Radio, the 83-year-old derided Gwyneth, inset left, for her recent revelation that she was throwing herself into a ‘goats’ milk cleanse’ in which she drank nothing but goats’ milk for a week to rid her body of ‘parasites’.

In her radio interview, Joan said: ‘All of this stuff that she does not eat anything for a week and just drinks goats’ milk? I mean what is that? I guess it is a fad...

‘I see these people taking their green juices and their kale and quinoa that tastes of cutup cardboard.

‘Green tea is disgusting. It is like ink. I will have a big cup of builder’s tea and I have two cups of proper coffee in the morning. I think there is too much of this clean eating.’

She also criticised current recommendations on healthy eating.

‘There is this thing about having to have ten portions of fruit and vegetables a day… I would be the size of a house!’

Joan isn’t averse to eating well, though. She previously revealed in an interview with the Daily Mail: ‘I try to eat a balanced diet. I believe eating avocados is very beneficial and I believe in taking vitamin supplements. I take Vitamin C, E and omega oils.’

Gwyneth is notorious for her faddish diet ideas that are frequently criticised for lacking any scientific basis.
