Video nasty for Griezmann

- By CIARÁN KENNEDY

REPORTED Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann fell foul of video technology as the Atletico Madrid forward’s second-half strike was correctly ruled offside by video officials in France’s friendly clash with Spain at the Stade de France. In what was one of the most high-profile tests of video technology in football to date, Spain eventually ran out winners thanks to goals from Manchester City’s David Silva and former Everton man Gerard Deulofeu. Christian Benteke netted a brace as Belgium were denied a fifth win in seven games, Aleksander Bukharov’s late equaliser rescuing a 3-3 draw for Russia. Bukharov wasted two good opportunities to draw Russia level before eventually finding the net. Russia took an early lead through Viktor Vasin before Everton’s Kevin Mirallas levelled for Roberto Martinez’s side from the penalty spot. Benteke’s double made it 3-1 to Belgium before Aleksey Miranchuk pulled one back ahead of Bukharov’s late strike Elsewhere, Viktor Claesson scored twice in the second-half as Sweden spoiled Screen grab: Antoine Griezmann Cristiano Ronaldo’s homecoming in Madeira. The Real Madrid superstar put the Euro 2016 champions 1-0 up before an Andreas Granqvis own goal had doubled their advantage. Classon pulled Sweden level before Ronaldo’s night was ruined thanks to an own goal from João Cancelo in the 90th minute. In the Amsterdam Arena, Eder and Leonardo Bonucci helped Italy to a 2-1 win over a struggling Netherlands side, who went 1-0 up following Alessio Romagnol’s early own goal.
