Tyrone lose duo to injury

-

EXPERIENCED Tyrone defenders Cathal McCarron and Justin McMahon have been ruled out of Sunday’s Ulster SFC clash with Derry. McCarron (pictured) has a hamstring injury, while McMahon is troubled with a quad muscle problem. Manager Mickey Harte has handed first Championship starts to three players — defender Padraig Hampsey, midfielder Conal McCann and attacker Kieran McGeary — for the Celtic Park tie. Rory Brennan comes in at centre back, while Peter Harte drops back to the half back line to offset the absence of McCarron and McMahon. McCann, younger brother of Tiernan, is a surprise choice as midfield partner for Colm Cavanagh, having seen little game-time over the National League. Eight of those who will line out for the Red Hands started last year’s 11-point win over the Oak Leafers at the same venue.
