Make the most of the sunshine... today’ll be the best day of the week

- By Emma Jane Hade

SUMMER is making a reappearance today, but forecasters are warning that it is for one day only.

After a morning with some misty and foggy patches, today will see the sun put its hat on for the most part.

Met Éireann warned that there might be isolated showers in the east but that for most of the country, it would be generally dry.

‘Monday will probably be the best day of the week really,’ forecaster Liz Walsh said.

‘There are a few possible isolated showers in the east with highs of 20C to 23C. But it will probably be a little cloudier along northern and western coasts where temperatures will be down a notch – maybe 18C to 19C there.’ Although it will be mainly sunny in eastern parts of the country tomorrow, things will get progressively wetter in the west as the day goes on.

‘As we head through Tuesday night there will be a good band of rain coming in and that will be with us through Wednesday,’ the forecaster said.

‘But it should clear out later on Wednesday and you will be left with an unstable westerly airflow, which means showers for many.’

Temperatures will reach highs of 24C over the coming days, but this will dip towards the end of the week, with a prognosis of sunny spells and scattered showers.

The forecaster added: ‘It does look quite unsettled into next weekend as well, so a bit of wet weather will be possible through Friday and Saturday.

‘Monday is the best day [but] it is not going to stick around.’

Overall, she said the temperatures were about average for this time of the year.
