Jada: We are still Mr and Mrs Smith and we make our open marriage work

-

SHE has previously spoken about her ‘open relationship’ with Will Smith and recently slammed rumours of them being ‘swingers’. And Jada Pinkett Smith once again addressed her ‘unconventional’ marriage to the former Fresh Prince Of Bel Air star, 48, as she made a stylish appearance on yesterday’s episode of ITV show, Lorraine.

The American star, 45, who is across the water to promote new movie, Girls Trip, admitted that couples have to do what works best for them. She also revealed that it was a given her children would follow in their Hollywood footsteps.

Jada, who recently dispelled hearsay that she and Will, pictured, are swingers, revealed to Lorraine: ‘People have to be married in a way that works. As couples, we really do have to see what is best for us.’

Will and Jada, pictured, first met in 1994 on the set of The Fresh Prince, when she was auditioning for the role of his girlfriend, ultimately losing out because she was considered too short. However, they began dating in real life the following year, and married two years after that.

The couple have two children – Jaden, 19, and Willow, 16. Jada is also stepmother to Trey Smith, 24, Will’s son from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino.

When Jada was asked about Jaden and Willow following in their acting footsteps, the beauty revealed that it was a given as they’ve ‘always been immersed in the arts’.

‘They were always on tour with me or on sets with Will. I don’t imagine they would have known to do something else,’ she admitted.

And Jada proved she was the ultimate cool mother, as she revealed she encouraged her teenage daughter to ‘sneak out’ to watch Girls Trip, which features saucy scenes.

‘Willow wanted to go with me and I told her she has to do what I used to do. When I was 16 and wanted to see an inappropriate movie I had to sneak around. I told her she should do the same!’

Talking about the female-led comedy trip, which has made $30million in its opening weekend in the US, Jada couldn’t help but gush.

‘It’s a great message about empowerment. You get everything in the movie. We were having a great time. Making the movie really was a girls trip. The cast had a special bond and audiences can feel that,’ she said.

She also revealed that Will hasn’t seen the movie yet but assured Lorraine: ‘He’s coming to a screening tomorrow.’

Speaking on what she likes to do in her rare downtime, Jada revealed: ‘I like to oil paint. That is my love – being in the studio painting. Me and the oils and the canvas. Very soothing. I let the paint take me.’
