SHAMROCK ROVERS hammered relegation-threatened Finn Harps to go four points clear in third spot. After Gary Shaw had given the Hoops a deserved interval lead, Brandon Miele added a second before teenage substitute James Doona bagged a five-minute brace. BJ Banda pulled one back for Harps with two minutes left. Shaw prodded the ball home from close-range on 27 minutes and six minutes after the break, Miele stepped up to find the top corner with a textbook free-kick. Doona drilled a low shot home from 10 yards on 69 minutes and soon after the 19-year-old pounced again to make it four. DINNY CORCORAN scored twice to drop St Pat’s back into the bottom three. Ismahil Akinade gave Bohs the lead inside two minutes before Christy Fagan quickly levelled. Bohs regained the lead on 16 minutes when Akinade was upended with Gavin Peers seeing red and Corcoran scoring from the spot. Corcoran doubled the home side’s advantage on 52 minutes before Conan Byrne gave Pat’s hope with his 65th minute goal. KEVIN DEVANEY was the hero as Galway United boosted their survival hopes with a huge win over fellow strugglers Sligo Rovers at Eamonn Deacy Park. Galway fell behind when Kyle Callan-McFadden hammered home after a lay-off from Greg Moorhouse in the 15th minute. Galway responded when Marc Ludden fired home in the 44th minute. It was 1-1 at half-time but Devaney put Galway ahead in the 72nd minute and Holohan sealed the win.
