MOURINHO OFF THE HOOK

- By CHRIS WHEELER

JOSE MOURINHO will face no further action from the FA after he was sent to the stands at Southampton for encroaching on the pitch. The Manchester United manager could have faced a ban after he was dismissed from the touchline by referee Craig Pawson during his team’s 1-0 win at St Mary’s. But after seeing Pawson’s report, the FA has decided to not pursue the matter against Mourinho (below), who was sent off twice in his first season at Old Trafford. They deemed it a minor offence after the Portuguese coach left his technical area and stepped over the touchline. It was the second time in successive away games that Mourinho has been in trouble for leaving the technical area. Earlier this month at Stoke, he clashed with Mark Hughes who objected to the United boss nearing the home dugout. Brighton meanwhile are facing a striker crisis after Tomer Hemed was charged with violent conduct for an alleged stamp on Newcastle’s DeAndre Yedlin. Hemed, who scored the winner in Sunday’s 1-0 victory, landed his studs on the full-back’s calf near the end of the game. Referee Andre Marriner did not see the incident and it was not included in his report filed with the FA on Monday. Hemed has until 6pm today to respond to the charge. If he does not appeal, he will be banned for three matches and will miss fixtures against Arsenal, Everton and West Ham. With Hemed facing a ban and Glenn Murray and Sam Baldock out injured, Brighton boss Chris Hughton may turn to Chelsea loanee Izzy Brown to lead the side’s attack.
