I’ll say yes to the dress when my heart finally stops racing, says Kathryn

-

KATHRYN Thomas has revealed she’s been getting ‘heart palpitations’ about her wedding while watching Say Yes To The Dress. The TV host has opened up about being a bride-to-be, saying: ‘I only started trying on the old wedding dresses about three or four weeks ago.’

But she has been getting inspiration from Franc’s hit RTÉ show – and also getting a few nerves.

‘I’ve been watching Say Yes To The Dress. I’ve been getting the heart palpitations. I was like, “oh, I don’t know, this whole white dress thing”.

‘I think Franc is brilliant. I look at him and I just go, “he is amazing”. It’s really interesting to watch everybody else go through it.’

The 38-year-old hasn’t had any teary moments while searching for a gown as of yet.

‘I went into a couple of different places in Dublin. It was more my best friend and my sister were going “you have to now start making plans”. They’re like this military operation and I honestly think the hen is more important than the wedding at this point,’ she said.

‘In terms of getting into different styles of dresses, I always thought I’d know what I want because we wear so many evening gowns and we do so many red carpets.

‘But then you get in there and there’s lots of different styles that they came at me with – big dresses and flowery, glittery dresses and all of that.

‘But actually what looks hideous on the hanger is not hideous on. And I’m thinking, “do I like the big huge mermaid thing?” And then no. I’ve gone back to what I know suits me.’

The presenter also revealed that she has set a date for her marriage to restaurateur fiancé Pádraig McLoughlin.

‘We have set a date, finally. Kind of the end of summer next year.’

Kathryn and Pádraig, pictured, got engaged in one of the world’s most beautiful hotels, Ballyfin House, Co. Laois, in November last year.

The Carlow native wouldn’t reveal if they plan to hold the nuptials in Ireland or abroad, possibly even her favourite location of Greece.

‘Greece is my favourite place in the world. Unfortunately there’s no direct flight there,’ she said.

‘But I’d like to go further afield for the honeymoon.’

Speaking yesterday at the launch of the search for the new Operation Transformation leaders, the presenter revealed that she was content to just enjoy the months coming up to their big day.

‘Right now I’m just looking forward to it happening!’ she said.
