Why there’s nothing like a full sentence to set a date!

WITH all the swiping and texting that goes on these days to find love, it may seem like we are teetering on the last vestiges of romance. What doesn’t help are the irritating (and just plain lazy) acronyms that have crept into the dating vernacular, like bbz, pls! It’s enough to make the Bard turn in his grave.

But wait! According to new research, some standards remain — in grammar, anyway. Dating app TrueView has revealed that singles out there still appreciate the proper use of the English language, with 68% more likely to be lucky in love if they use full sentences while searching for a mate online.

And if you think using lustfilled language is going to win your crush over, you could be in for a rude awakening. TrueView found that 66% of potential daters are more likely to get a reply if they cut out the expletives.

They have introduced a word detection system, so if one of their members tries to use a ‘naughty’ word when compiling a message to a potential date, their system encourages the user to write something else. “The technology has the effect of converting the disgracefu­l into a message your potential mumin-law would be proud of,’ says Matt Verity, co-founder of TrueView.

The company has also created a video featuring the Undateable Suspects; a set of animated characters that many will have come across. Fake Felicity or Two-Faced Tony anyone? Ooh, we’ve all met one of those... ÷
