I can see why there’s a Strictly Curse, says Konnie

-

SHE is poised to feature in a Strictly Come Dancing special on behalf of BBC Children In Need.

But while Konnie Huq, left, and professional dance partner Neil Jones, with whom she has been paired, are both happily married, the TV presenter, 42, admits she can sympathise with those who succumb to the notorious ‘Strictly Curse’.

She told The Mirror: ‘I know Strictly celebs are renowned for going off with their dancers and you can see why that happens.

‘The training involves long days and, call me prudish, but some of the moves are quite intimate.

‘If you don’t cling on very tightly to your partner you’re going to fall on the floor, so I can see it can feel like you’re crossing the line.’

She added: ‘I was doing a jive, a fast dance, but some of the more intense dances I can see would feel awkward.’

Konnie, who married Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker in 2010, will hope to impress when she takes to the dance floor for the Blue Peter Strictly special with Neil, 35, whose dancer wife Katya is currently enjoying a successful debut on the BBC show.

The presenter’s comments follow her earlier revelations about Simon Cowell, whom she claimed led a nocturnal lifestyle which would see him not show up to the X Factor set until after lunchtime.

The former Blue Peter presenter said that the music mogul had been known to not go to bed until 4am.

She said: ‘Sometimes he won’t turn up until lunchtime and everybody is waiting for him to pitch up to start the show’.
