The six State appointmen­ts

TOM CONSIDINE

Mr Considine, of Bank of Ireland, is a former secretary general of the Department of Finance and a former member of the Advisory Committee of the National Treasury Management Agency. He was also formerly a board member of the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland and a member of the council of the Economic and Social Research Institute. He became a non-executive director in 2009 and he remains in the position.

DICK SPRING

Former tánaiste and Labour Party leader Dick Spring retired from the board of AIB in 2014 after six years as a non-executive director. Mr Spring was originally appointed as a public interest director by the State following the crash of the financial sector in late 2008.

DECLAN COLLIER

Mr Collier was the chief executive of the Dublin Airport Authority from 2005 until he left in 2011 to run London City Airport. AIB appointed Mr Collier as non-executive director in 2009.

JOE WALSH

The late Joe Walsh served as Minister for Agricultur­e from 1992 to 2004 having previously served as Minister for Food from 1987. The former Fianna Fáil minister was appointed as a Bank of Ireland nonexecuti­ve director in 2008. He died in 2014.

MARGARET HAYES

The late Ms Hayes was a former secretary general at the Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism. She later became a barrister, and was appointed as a PTSB public interest director in 2008. She died aged 59 in 2014.

RAY MACSHARRY

Mr MacSharry is a former Fianna Fáil politician who served as tánaiste and also Finance Minister. In 2008, he became a public interest director for PTSB.
