Kinahans may intervene in McGregor row

- By Ali Bracken Crime Correspondent

THE Kinahan cartel may be forced to intervene in the fallout from a pub brawl where Conor McGregor was present on Sunday night.

Gardaí have still not received a criminal complaint following the pub row, during which two men were punched in the face.

McGregor posted an Instagram photo in the early hours of yesterday morning, appearing to cover his face in the same manner that criminals do when seeking to hide their identity.

Senior sources said last night that gardaí were still not investigating the south Dublin pub brawl, during which a man in his 50s was punched twice in the face.

The man, who is an associate of the Kinahan cartel but not involved in criminality himself, stepped in to intervene after another man was hit with one punch to the head.

Security sources suspect the Kinahan cartel may now intervene to try to defuse the row.

A source said: ‘No one wants to see one of Ireland’s most high-profile sports celebrities dragged into a row involving serious criminals. There is a possibility the cartel might get involved to stop anyone escalating further. McGregor is well liked and respected.’

The south Dublin pub where the alleged attack took place declined to comment when contacted by the Irish Daily Mail, saying it was unaware of any violent incident.

when asked for comment.

It is understood McGregor left in a 4x4 following the row. The two men who were punched did not suffer serious injuries, sources say.

The Mail understands that a man well-known to the UFC fighter was involved in an altercation with another man in Crumlin a fortnight ago.

This is believed to have been the catalyst for the pub row.
