QUESTION

DEAR Linda, I recently confided in a work supervisor that as I have not taken a drink in over six years, I would prefer to abstain from attending the annual Christmas party. Since disclosing this piece of information to him, his attitude toward me has changed. I know he has broken a confidence, as several other members of staff have mentioned it. It seems that they, too, are no longer interested in my company and want to avoid me at all costs. Before this I did go to some work functions but watching people drink too much alcohol is simply not my scene. I am both angry and disappointed at the attitude of many of my work colleagues. Frankly, you’d think I had said I had the plague. May I have your view on the matter?

ANSWER

DEAR F, I fear you would not be the first, and probably will not be the last, on the receiving end of ignorance. Society in general seem to have lost the true meaning of Christmas, and while some — not all — use it as the perfect excuse to overindulge in lots of ways, alcohol is one of the primary ones. While you may be angry and disappointed that your supervisor broke your confidence disclosing something to others — which should be taken up with superior management — he seems to have recruited a few more critics into the bargain. As hard as it may seem, rising above the childishness and ignorance is the way forward, to thine own self be true, you need no one’s approval. Christmas, the silly season for some, will pass, and your courage, strength, self-confidence and self-belief will remain intact.

÷ FIRST CARD (DON’T BACK DOWN)

FIRST, be quite clear about your intentions. If you’re unclear, the confusion will lessen your power and force. Like a candle in the dark, be very clear and bright in what is acceptable to you in this situation. Make no mistakes, the angels will guide and protect you. Yet, think of the unparalleled rise in your own viewpoint if you are to stand up for yourself, and speak up about your needs and your deepest truths. Now is the time to touch your power, for its heat and flame will ignite your passion, which will propel you forward in countless ways. Even in the face of fear, you can still stand up for your ideals and your truth. Be unwavering, and make your stand today!

÷ ADVICE/OBSTACLE (COURAGE)

IN THIS situation, you need to act upon your convictions even if others disagree. The angels are protecting you from harm, and guiding you to be a loving warrior of light. As you stand up for your beliefs, you’re a role model for others. This is an important form of spiritual teaching, in which your example gives others courage to also stand up for their own principles.

÷ OUTCOME (LAW OF ATTRACTION)

THIS card signals that you’re experiencing shifts because of your spiritual path. The Universal Law of Attraction says that like attracts like. So you’re attracted to people and situations that have similar intentions to your own. For example, if your intentions are to be loving and to see the Divine within everyone, you’ll attract loving people and situations. Know that these experiences are a normal part of the spiritual path; you’re attracting wonderful, new relationships, situations, and jobs that mirror your spiritual focus. Give any cares, questions and concerns to the angels for healing.
