Woman faces court over shotgun attack
A 24-YEAR-old woman has been charged in connection with a shooting in Dublin in which an eight-month-old baby boy was among three injured.
Charlene Donovan, 24, of Parlickstown Gardens, Mulhuddart, Dublin, is accused of having of a shotgun with intent to endanger life at Parlickstown Gardens on Monday.
A 29-year-old woman, her eightmonth-old baby and the baby’s 17-year-old uncle were taken to hospital after they were shot.
Ms Donovan is the second person to appear at Blanchardstown District Court over the gun attack.
Her father Dan Donovan, 48, was granted bail on Wednesday after being charged with possession of a shotgun and threatening to kill a man during the same incident.
Garda Michael Parry Jones said he arrested Ms Donovan at 10.10pm on Wednesday at Blanchardstown Garda station. He added Ms Donovan was charged at 10.35pm by Sergeant Niamh Guckian and made no reply.
Defence solicitor Simon Fleming asked Judge David McHugh to put the case back for a bail application and asked that the remand Accused: Charlene Donovan date not be made public. He said restrictions had been placed on the bail hearing of a co-accused and these ‘had been largely ignored by the media’.
Mr Fleming added his concern was that there would be public order issues at the next hearing if the date was made public.
Garda Parry Jones agreed and said restrictions on a co-accused’s bail were ignored and this had caused problems for witnesses.
Judge McHugh remanded Donovan in custody for a bail application and ordered that the remand date not be made public.
