Sheeran’s all smiles as he hits the pub in Dublin

-

HE’S a fan of Galway Girls – but Ed Sheeran clearly also has a soft spot for Dublin pubs, as he popped out to in the capital last night before his appearance on RTÉ’s The Late Late Show this evening. The singer surprised punters in the Hacienda Bar in the capital and posed up for a picture, below. Looking relaxed and wrapped up warm for a bitterly cold evening, the English singer smiled for the snap, which was shared on the pub’s Facebook page.

Sheeran was in town to record his appearance on The Late Late Show, where he will perform a cover of The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl’s Christmas classic Fairytale Of New York.

Meanwhile, the music superstar has celebrated two years of ‘ditching his phone’ – marking the milestone on Instagram, his only social media account.

The Don’t singer, 26, deleted his 20million-followerstrong Twitter account when he grew sick of the abuse he was getting from trolls who didn’t like him or his music. And it seems he’s never looked back.

Speaking to The Sun, he claimed that his life has improved ‘massively’ since quitting the micro-blogging network.

‘All the things that get blown up on Twitter are all so, so, so negative. Nothing’s being celebrated. On Instagram it’s like, “Yay this” whereas Twitter is like, “No, f*** this”,’ Ed said.

‘Hearing people’s opinions – especially people I’ve never met – on my character forms a sort of paranoia in you. So now not reading it gives my head a bit more of a break.’

He added: ‘I think to be a creative human being you have to be a little bit f ****** weird anyway – like a little bit on the edge of madness. And when you have someone that’s on the spectrum and you basically hurl loads of insults at them, it’s going to tip them over the edge at some point.’
