HISTORIC WAYS Private Lives Of The Monarchs, 9pm, Yesterday
HENRY VIII is the last subject of this interesting series. He was a big spender on such projects as the Field of the Cloth of Gold – a lavish, three-week summit of sorts, at which he wrestled the French King. The squeamish may wish to avoid the section on his bathroom traditions.

FAB BIOPIC Cilla, 10pm, ITV3
SHERIDAN Smith’s (pictured) excellent central performance is the best reason to watch this three-part biopic, which tracks Cilla Black’s early career through Sixties Liverpool, and is showing in its entirety. Smith does her own singing, too – and her version of Cilla’s Anyone Who Had A Heart made it into the top 40. Continues daily.
CHILLER Annabelle: Creation, Pay-perview, Sky Store
THERE’S a tradition of horror tales at Christmas, and this US film – starring Miranda Otto (pictured) – is a prequel to 2014’s Annabelle, about a possessed doll at an orphanage. It’s a suitably creepy affair . . .
THRILLER SERIES Blindspot, 10pm, Sky Living
THE latest season of this US thriller has done a nice job of balancing the married life of Jane and Kurt with fast-paced, slightly barmy conspiracy plots. Tonight’s new episode brings the two threads even closer together with a threat from within the FBI.
