Aoife steps out! Hurt toe ends her Dancing With The Stars dream

FORMER Miss Ireland Aoife Walsh has been forced to pull out of the upcoming series of Dancing With The Stars with a broken toe.

The 27-year-old New York-based model said she is devastated to have had to leave the show at such an early stage.

Aoife, who won the Miss Ireland pageant in 2013, suffered the injury recently after she stubbed her toe off her bed frame.

The Tipperary woman had yet to begin rehearsals as she was wearing a cast on her foot. She was planning to stay off the dance floor for a few weeks and then rehearse throughout the festive season in an effort to catch up with the other dancing hopefuls.

But the toe didn’t heal in time, and speaking about her agony at missing out, she said: ‘I’m devastated to have to hang up my dancing shoes so soon, but it just wasn’t meant to be this time... I’d like to wish all my fellow contestants the very best in the competition – I’ll be watching and cheering them on.’

The flame-haired star already has the inside track on the RTÉ show, which returns to our screens on Sunday, January 7, and has tipped two contestants in particular to go far.

Speaking on 2fm’s Nicky Byrne Show, the Clonmel native backed sports commentator Marty Morrissey as one to watch. ‘He has the moves and he can shake it,’ she said.

She also tipped Erin McGregor, the sister of MMA fighter Conor, saying she is ‘a really good mover’. Aoife’s replacement will be announced in the coming days.
