Vogue not the Master of all she’s surveyed
VOGUE Williams may be going strong in her career as a TV presenter – but she seems to be struggling a little on general knowledge.
The Reality Bites star flopped on BBC’s Celebrity Mastermind, which aired on Thursday, scoring just one out of 13 in the general knowledge round.
And her choice of Kim Kardashian as a specialist subject also caused a stir on social media.
One Twitter user posted: ‘One of the contestants on #celebritymastermind has Kim Kardashian as her specialist subject! Think we’ve just reached peak banality as a species.’
Another said: ‘Kim Kardashian? If that was the one topic in the entire world, that I was a specialist on, I would stick my head in the oven.’
But Dubliner Vogue, 32, defended her choice by saying the Kardashians were just a ‘normal family’ who had kept people interested in their lives for over a decade. The model and TV star also said she admired Kim’s ‘talent for business’. ‘Even her bum is interesting,’ she laughed.
On her specialist subject, Vogue proved she has been keeping up with the Kardashians as she answered all but of one of the questions correctly and passed on the other. However, she got just one out of 13 general knowledge questions right.
The other contestants were Horrible Histories actor Laurence Rickard, Springwatch presenter Martin Hughes-Games, and BBC deputy political editor John Pienaar.
Vogue, whose choice of charity was the Stroke Association, rose to fame in 2010 on RTÉ’s reality TV show Fade Street.
The show focused on Vogue’s work in Stellar magazine and her interests in acting and DJing.
She has since been a regular on reality TV shows, including Dancing With The Stars in Australia in 2012, and the ITV celebrity dancing competition Stepping Out in 2013, with Brian McFadden. The then couple finished in second place.
In 2015, Williams won the ITV reality series Bear Grylls: Mission Survive, beating Kelly Holmes and Mike Tindall. She separated from former Westlife member McFadden in 2015 after three years of marriage.
She also presented her own series, Vogue Williams – On The Edge, on RTÉ, in which she investigated issues affecting her fellow millennials.
She is currently going out with reality TV star Spencer Matthews.
