‘Exceptional’ Larmour is a bolter for Six Nations

- By LIAM HEAGNEY

JORDAN LARMOUR’S sensational Pro14 derby form in recent weeks has sparked demands for his inclusion in Joe Schmidt’s Ireland squad for next month’s Six Nations. The uncapped 20-year-old wasn’t part of Schmidt’s preChristmas camp at Carton House. However, he followed up his amazing win-clinching St Stephen’s Day solo try at Munster with two more against Ulster on Saturday to leave fans clamouring for the fleet-of-foot youngster to be included by Ireland even though he has yet to even start a Champions Cup game for Leinster. ‘This Larmour boy is certainly dangerous, whether he has got acres of space to work with or very small spaces to work with,’ admitted Ulster boss Les Kiss, an Ireland assistant for seven Six Nations campaigns. ‘He just challenges your defensive shoulder and I’d even say he has got a little bit of that vein of form where whatever you do it bounces into your hands… he’s in a special place at the moment and deserves every accolade that is coming his way. He’s an exceptional rugby player.’ Test squad inclusion for Larmour would surely put an end to Simon Zebo’s outside chances of getting an Ireland look-in before his summer departure to France. Axed by Schmidt when news of his impending French exit broke, Zebo’s Ireland spot was impressively taken by Jacob Stockdale in November, but the Ulster flyer was clinically shown up at the weekend by Larmour. Leinster head coach Leo Cullen said: ‘We will have some interesting discussions around selection this week. He’s just incredibly talented, a ball of energy, a pleasure to work with.’
