U2 planning ‘special’ Irish shows on European tour

-

U2 HAVE confirmed they will bring their Experience and Innocence tour to Ireland this year — but are leaving fans hanging about when.

The rockers are planning ‘special shows’ in Dublin and Belfast, details of which will be announced as soon as they are finalised, a spokesman for the band said.

The European tour, which takes in seven countries, will begin in Berlin on August 31 for dates to include Cologne, Paris, Madrid, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Milan, Manchester and London. Tickets will go on sale on January 26.

‘As with every U2 tour, this new arena production will explore the latest in cutting-edge technology,’ the spokesman added. It is thought, though, that the band will be taking over the 3Arena for a number of nights, as they did with their Songs Of Innocence tour.

Meanwhile, Israeli graffiti collective Broken Fingaz Crew have directed the band’s new video for Get Out Of Your Own Way from Songs Of Experience.

The crew have made a stand with the song, saying ‘The video addresses the current political situation: 2017 for us was the year fascists worldwide felt confident enough to raise their heads again, encouraged by Trump and other world leaders, who use people’s fear to build more walls and segregation.’

The new video captures the band’s ‘clarion cry to the global situation’ by splicing pop imagery with politics.
