THIS week sees the time-travelling experiment fast-forwarding to the post-war years, when the Ellis family ( pictured, right) are delighted to be joined by chickens Sara and Polly. Before long, fresh eggs are providing a welcome respite from the dried variety they have been eating in this thrifty but upbeat era of rationing and rock ’n’ roll.
