Gardaí trying to establish where tragic Joanne died

- By Seán O’Driscoll

GARDAÍ began house-to-house calls in Dublin yesterday to determine if a woman who was found dead in a flat was killed elsewhere.

Officers appealed for information from residents in Ranelagh Road, asking if they noticed anyone acting suspiciously before her death.

At 3pm yesterday, they left notes insides the letterboxes of houses up and down the south inner-city road.

Ms Lee’s body was found wrapped in plastic and sleeping bags in a wardrobe on Thursday inside a flat in a property divided into apartments.

The 38-year-old from Coolock, north Dublin, had been reported missing two days earlier.

Yesterday Zvjezdan Milholic, a Croatian national who lives in another flat in the property, said he and his Romanian girlfriend can no longer live in the building.

A Garda spokesman said it was a routine part of murder inquiry to canvass neighbours for information. ‘They are looking for anything unusual that happened on the road before the discovery,’ he said.

Gardaí believe Ms Lee may have been taken into the house from her car, which was parked nearby. They also believe she may have been strangled at a different location.

Officers visited businesses on approach roads into Ranelagh, asking them for CCTV footage. They hope any footage might determine if Ms Lee was brought into the property under cover of darkness.

Ms Lee was last seen at her parents’ house in Garristown, Co. Meath, on February 5, according to Superintendent Gerry Delmar, who is leading the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact gardaí.
