‘I knew this week my time was up’

BERNARD O’Shea’s pussycat routine wasn’t enough on Dancing With The Stars last night – as he went out in a dance-off with Erin McGregor.

The comedian gave a bizarre, feline-themed performance to Tom Jones’s What’s New Pussycat? that landed him in the bottom two.

All eyes were on camogie star Anna Geary, however, who scored three perfect tens.

It was a the first week of the dreaded dance-off and 2fm DJ O’Shea didn’t exactly lose out by a whisker to a surprised-looking Conor McGregor’s sister. O’Shea said: ‘I knew that this week my time was up... I had such fun.’

First up last night was Marty Morrissey who survived another week after performing a foxtrot to Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head with Ksenia Zsikhotska. The judges gave 16 points.

Model Alannah Beirne and Vitali Kozmin were next, performing a romantic but lively rumba that won her 22 points.

Deirdre O’Kane and John Nolan were third up, performing an emotional waltz, earning 20 points. Rob Heffernan and Emily Barker did a sultry salsa to Ricky Martin’s Livin’ La Vida Loca that scored him a total of 21 points.

Bernard’s cat-themed Viennese waltz with Valeria Milova was next but it didn’t get the cream, as he got a paltry 13 points. Impressing the judges was Erin McGregor who performed a tense paso doble with Ryan McShane. She received the first perfect ten of the series and a total of 28 points. However, she ended up in the bottom two after the public vote.

Young gun Jake Carter and Karen Byrne then scored an impressive 26 after a racy tango. But it was the final act that proved cream of the crop as Anna Geary and Kai Widdrington were back with a bang literally, dancing a lively Charleston to Will.i.am’s Bang Bang – scoring this series’s first perfect 30.
